Keep Cool Air In: How an Energy Savings Kit Can Help This Summer

An energy savings kit is not just for winter. Some items in the kit can also help during hot weather.

When your home has gaps around windows, doors, or a window air conditioner, cool air can leak out. Hot air can also get in. That can make your home feel less comfortable and may make your air conditioner work harder.

Here are a few kit items that may help you stay cooler this summer.

Weather stripping and foam tape

Weather stripping and foam tape can help seal small gaps around doors and windows. This can help keep hot air out and cool air in.

Door sweeps

A door sweep helps close the gap under a door. This can help reduce drafts and keep cooled air from escaping. It may also help keep out dust and pests.

Window A/C side panels

If you use a window air conditioner, check the space around the unit. Foam side panels can help seal gaps between the A/C and the window. This can help keep cool air inside your home.
